Anima

Anima is a platformer made by students in TGA2D at The Game Assembly

Main Responsibilities

Animations

I implemented and continued to improve upon the Animation system I set up in the previous project.

Animation Tooling

I created an Animation editing application in which a user can set up sprite sheet “blending” as well as allowing users to map game play events to the Animation, the tool packs up our data and then pushes it to the game workbed in a game ready state. For more info on this tool click here.

UI Systems

I continued to work on and develop the UI system from the previous game primarily expanding the range of UI elements available and refactoring the system to be more scalable.

UI Tooling

I created a tool in which users could set up the in-game UI providing full control over the elements; adding/removing, positions, rollover and click effects, collision areas of the items etc.

Rendering Systems

I implemented the systems that interfaced with the rendering engine providing an interface for multi-layer rendering to create depth effects and improving lighting.

Level Loading

I worked on and designed the structure of the data we read from the Tiled Map Editor with the Level Designers, to ensure that they could work with as few dependencies as possible.
